Chasing 156 for victory, the Canes lost Caleb Jewel early as Jason Behrendorff caused a bit of trouble with the new ball.

However, Shai Hope, who joined opener Mitchell Owen, put on a good stand to take the hosts to safe shores.

China, meanwhile, have experienced a rollercoaster of results. After a demoralizing 0-3 defeat to India, they bounced back with a 4-2 victory over Malaysia. However, their momentum was short-lived as they faced another loss, this time 2-3 against South Korea.

Hope was later on dismissed by Behrendorff as Owen carried on to score a sensational hundred that sealed the deal as the Hurricanes were home in 19.2 overs.

Earlier on, after putting the Scorchers to bat, Riley Meredith bowled quick and fast as he picked Finn Allen (4), Cooper Connolly (14), and Ashton Turner (39).

Josh Inglis was run-out for 49 as the Scorchers kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could just manage 155 on the board.

Perth will take on Melbourne Renegades next, while the Hurricanes will play the strikers.
